The Study on the Development of Rehabilitation Counseling Syllabus and Its Current Educational Status
Choi Gug-Hwan

Abstract
Rehabilitation counseling provides a foundation for beneficial academic resources in the fields of rehabilitation, social welfare, psychology and special education. This study has 3 purposes: 1) to compare the CORE curricula in USA with the current university rehabilitation counselor education programs in Korea, 2) to develop standard rehabilitation counseling education syllabus, and 3) to exam the current educational status in the vocational rehabilitation counseling programs. To fulfill the study purposes, the five universities associated with the Korean Society of Vocational Rehabilitation were selected for curriculum reviews. The study results indicated that in general, the domestic educational curricula for rehabilitation counselors were found to be in line with the CORE criteria, however a lack of professional ethics domain and a lack of educational consistency in running the rehabilitation counseling education programs were found to be the problematic areas. The conclusions and limitations of the study were suggested.
